HAPI sponsorships
Sponsorships are being offered for Haitian citizens
Congregations wishing to sponsor a Haitian can choose to partner with Church World Service (CWS) as a Private Sponsor Group (PSG). Groups should first contact Katie Randal at CWS at krandall@cwsglobal.org. CWS will assist the group through the steps of private sponsorship. Once formed, the group can be ‘matched’ through HAPI’s available parolees. CWS will train and support the PSG throughout the first 6-9 months of the sponsorship period so that they can help Haitians fleeing from gang and economic violence achieve stability in the U.S
HAPI is focusing on adults ages 18-40 years. The majority are from Mizak with a few residing in Port-au-Prince where violence is the most extreme. All have received personal references from members of HAPI’s leadership team. Those from the city have connections to HAPI through a parent or relative who worked for us. HAPITech will offer conversational ESL and an introduction to US culture prior to their arrival.
We envision that these beautiful young people will be HAPI’s and Mizak’s best ambassadors! This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their future and for them to return the gift to help ‘raise’ their friends and family out of poverty. These are faces of courage. Have you been missing Haiti? This is a chance to ‘bring Haiti home’ to your kitchen table, to your welcoming congregation, and to walk alongside their journey.
